SERVANT LEADERSHIP

Lead in ways that help others grow

Servant leadership begins with how we regard the people entrusted to us. It asks us to use our influence responsibly, create room for others to contribute, and take their growth seriously.

At GrowSQ, we explore the connection between a leader’s character and everyday leadership habits. The example of Jesus informs our understanding of service, humility, and responsibility.

Develop the person who leads

Reflect on your motives, strengths, and responses under pressure. Consider how your use of power affects others, and how feedback and accountability can help you lead with greater integrity.

Build the capacity of others

Practise listening, giving useful feedback, and delegating with clear expectations. Explore how to support people while giving them room to exercise judgement and take responsibility for their work.

Strengthen the way your team works

Clarify shared purpose, recognise different contributions, and address habits that make collaboration difficult. Pay attention to how decisions are made, how concerns are heard, and how people are supported through change.

Topics we can explore

  • Self-awareness, motivation, and personal leadership habits.
  • Power, humility, integrity, and accountability.
  • Developing others through encouragement and shared responsibility.
  • Building teams and supporting participation in decisions.
  • Leading change while staying attentive to people and purpose.

Put learning into practice

Reflection, discussion, and practical exercises connect these themes with the situations you face. We encourage participants to choose specific changes to practise in their own leadership and decide how they will review their progress.

This work is relevant to emerging and experienced leaders, team leaders, and church or ministry leadership groups.
